Hooding and Recognition Ceremonies

The University of Kansas Medical Center held hooding and recognition ceremonies for graduates of the Schools of Health Professions, Medicine and Nursing on Saturday, May 14, 2022. These events took place in addition to the University of Kansas Commencement ceremony in Lawrence.

KU School of Health Professions Recognition Ceremony

Can family members of students attend the ceremony?

Families and friends of graduates are invited to attend in person, and the ceremonies will be live streamed for those that prefer to attend virtually

What is being done to make sure that surfaces at Memorial Hall have been sanitized?

Prior to each ceremony, all frequently touched surfaces and restrooms will be sanitized. Anyone wishing to clean their seat may use sanitizing wipes provided throughout the venue.

How early can friends and family arrive?

Please refer to the “doors open” time listed in the ceremony details above.

If I’m unable to watch the ceremony, will there be a recording posted online to view later?

Yes, the ceremony recording will be available to view within a few days.

Is there special ADA parking available?

There will be ADA accessible parking at Memorial Hall. Please check back later for a map and additional details.

Will the live-stream of the ceremonies be captioned?

Yes, the ceremony will have closed captioning for those viewing online.

The Commencement ceremonies scheduled to take place on the KU-Lawrence campus on Sunday, May 16 were canceled due to severe weather. The Class of 2021 is invited to participate in a rescheduled Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 23, in Memorial Stadium. Tickets are not required. Visit the KU Commencement website for details.

We recognize not all graduates will be able to attend this rescheduled Commencement in person. For those who can't be in Lawrence, you can join the ceremony via live stream on the Commencement website.
